Packing and moving tips for a stress free move
Packing up and moving house doesn’t have to be the nightmare everyone worries about. With a little planning and organization we can help you have a stress free move.
Write your to-do list
Take the time to write down all the tasks you need to do so you don’t forget anything. Check them off as you go and add to it as things arise. A well prepared to do list will ensure you are on top of everything on the day.
Clear out the closet
Moving house is the perfect time to get rid of all your clutter. Old toys, unused tools, old sporting equipment all needs to go. Give usable items to a charity like www.takemyjunkuae.com or hold a garage sale.
Choose a professional moving company
Do you homework when short listing the removal company you wish to use. Check their website testimonials, research web forums and online reviews.
Don’t opt for price over professionalism here because the little extra you might save with a less reputable company will be soon outweighed by the time wasted and associated stress of dealing with a crew that don’t know what they are doing.

Use Priority Packing
Remember that all your packed boxes don’t need you be unpacked immediately. So mark the boxes according to their priority. Mark [A] for essentials like bathroom items or perishables, [B] for important items but not critical and [C] for things you won’t need anytime soon.
The more information you can write on the box the better. Be sure to note ‘fragile’ or ‘this side up’, the contents, and which room it’s going to. This way the moving crew can deliver the boxes to each room accordingly.
Get started early
We recommend getting a running start before your move date. Easytruck can deliver boxes and packing materials so you can get started and have everything ready for pick up on the day.
Start with priority [C] items and work back to [A]. Take your time and just carefully pack around 5 a day and before you know it you’ll have 35 done and be ready to roll.
Arrange a babysitter
It’s advisable to arrange a babysitter to look after children during the move, or have them stay at friend’s home while the move is in progress. Give yourself one less things to worry about.
Set up a retreat
So that you and your family have a quiet place to relax when required during the move, set up one room away for all the activity as soon as possible. You’ll be thankful for this retreat around afternoon tea time.
Make the beds

The minute your beds are delivered, have them assembled first then make the beds. You’ll be happy you did this early so you have a freshly made bed to retire to after your busy day.
Keep the tools handy
If you are handy with the tools, keep your toolkit close by for hanging pictures, setting up the entertainment system or hooking up the washing machine. If not, easytruck handymen can come and take care of everything for you.
Inform everyone
Ensure you inform all the various authorities (Water / Gas / Electricity / Cable / Post) that you are relocating to close or transfer any accounts. Also let family members and friends know your new address by email or post.
